How
is Los Angeles defined? Is it a city, a state of mind or an identity?
Hollywood backdrop? What makes it unique? Or is the answer something
altogether different?
Los
Angeles as a Character is a screening that will showcase narrative,
experimental and documentary short films and videos with the city of
Los Angeles as a peripheral or central, theme, backdrop or character.
Guidelines:
Los Angeles as a Character is a one-night
screening at the Echo Park Film Center, Saturday, November 14th, 2009
at 8:00 PM. We are searching for short films/videos which meet the criteria
suggested above. Films/Videos must be 20 minutes or less.
How to Enter:
Entries may be submitted on DVD, VHS, or MiniDV -- all NTSC
format. Preview discs/cassettes must be clearly labeled with the title
of the entry and entrant’s name. No online links to downloadable
films or emailed entries.
Entry
Criteria:
Productions must be independently produced, with the filmmaker
retaining complete editorial control. Productions must have been completed
after January 1, 2000. Selected works can be screened from 16mm, Super
8mm, MiniDV (NTSC) or DVD (NTSC). Submission of an entry indicates acceptance
of all regulations, guarantee that a screening copy in the format specified
on the entry form will be made available for the dates of the festival,
and authorization to publicly exhibit the entered work at the Echo Park
Film Center on Saturday, November 14, 2009.
Entry
Fees: There are none. Just submit a film that is appropriate
for this screening.
FINAL DEADLINE: October 1, 2009. (but earlier is better).
Shipping: Cost of shipping to the screening must be
prepaid and is the responsibility of the entrant. Collect or COD shipments
will not be accepted. All cassettes, cases, reels and cans must be labelled
with the title of entry and entrant’s identification.
Preview discs/tapes will not be returned. If you require notification
of receipt of your entry, please email us.
